Specialty number plates commemorating the Longstone River are now available now through the local Transport Department offices.
The number plates, which show a canoeist paddling up the river near the Curved Bridge, cost $19 more than standard number plates. That premium will be used to raise money for the Longstone River Conservation Society, a group dedicated to river improvement and research projects.
The number plates are also a tribute to the late Congressman Pete Williams, a long time advocate of raising funds through the sale of speciality number plates.
