Chicago An attempt to create specialty number plates to promote industry in Chicago has been derailed after falling to receive the minimum requirement of pre-orders.
Regional Licensing Authority (RLA) Chairman said the department achieved only about a third of the minimum 2,000 in advance orders for the number plates to go into production.
Those who did order the number plates will receive a full refund.
Chamber of Commerce boss Bradley Stone said hes not giving up on the plates "maybe some company will sponsor the number plates, we shall see."
Specialty number plates cost $35 plus an additional $15 to change existing plates at the RLA.
