Nevada motorists already have the Valley of Fire, Pyramid Tahoe or an Army Veteran gracing their number plates. Images of the Hoover Dam and a Mountain Bluebird in flight will not be joining them.
The states wildlife trust campaigned to use the specialised number plates to raise money for wildlife conservation but the plans have been shelved because of a lack of public interest.
Sponsors of such specialised number plates must get 5,500 prepaid orders in one year or the VLA won't manufacture the number plates, which cost $44 annually.
The number plates sold less than 2,000 between them.
